Planta Queen is one of the most consistent vegan restaurants in NYC. Everything I've had here so far has been tasty and the portions aren't skimpy, which is much appreciated. On this visit, a friend and I ordered the tofu 'salmon', Japanese steak, crispy 1000 layered potatoes, baby gem green goddess salad, carrot cake and banana pudding. All delicious and the Japanese steak was the best preparation of the Chunk Steak I've had so far from different restaurants. We were sat in the dining space below the main floor. It has a different feel but nicely done too. As always, the staff were friendly and professional. My only criticism is that the music is always too loud. This makes diners raise their voices to be heard which creates a cacophonous atmosphere. A quieter vibe would make for a much more pleasant experience. Planta Queen is one place I feel confident recommending to anyone. If you're someone who's hesitant about trying plant-based food or knows someone who is, Planta is the place to dispel any fears of bland, unsatisfying food. Come and enjoy!

Came here for happy hour and am so glad the food didn't disappoint. Just judging off the dishes I tried, I don't think they have any bad food--opinions would just vary based on personal preference. It definitely seems like they do sushi very well and so I would definitely come back again for happy hour, and I would like to try their regular menu sushi items as well. I first tried their hand rolls: - Spicy tuna: my FAVORITE thing I tried and actually tasted so similar to real tuna. I loved how light the flavor was and how they didn't try to overcompensate by making it too salty. 6/5 stars!! - Crispy mushroom: good but a bit salty due to the sauce, and so I wish they went lighter on it. I really enjoyed the bites that were light on the sauce and I was able to taste the wasabi--such a good combination of flavor and even kind of refreshing. 3.75 stars - Spicy crab: probably my least favorite thing I had. The heart of palm tasted simultaneously artichokey and like a spicy mayo (imitation) crab mix. It was pretty interesting but I'm not a big fan of crab salad. 2.5/5 stars - Japanese sweet potato: pretty good (sweet, soft, buttery) but since the sweet potato was so much larger and the flavor so much more prominent than the other ingredients, it was a little overpowering. 3/5 stars Also had their crab rangoon dip which was yummy and full of flavor, but a little dip went a long way since too much made it salty and would start to mask the flavor of the wonton chips (which I really enjoy). 3.95/5 stars Lastly I tried the chick'n fried mushrooms, which were perfectly fried. I'm not sure if nuoc cham is the perfect dip for these, but I will say that it did taste pretty good with the pickled veggies from the sauce. 3.75/5

Line another reviewer, we weren't allowed to be seated at our table until the 4th person arrived for the reservation. Well, they definitely lost some sales in drinks there! We were asked to step aside so they could seat other parties, and like other reviewers, we were asked to move as we were blocking the flow of traffic. It would be nice if they 1. Hadn't asked us to stand where we were and 2. Had a designated waiting area. Silly. Nice we were seated, everything changed for the better. Our server was very nice and attentive, he kept checking to make sure we were well situated and even invited us to stay a bit longer and socialize with each other. The food was delicious and the prices were very reasonable. I almost gave up at the host stand, but glad we persevered through that poor initial experience to enjoy the meal.

Second time back, I think my original review still stands but if you know what to order, it can be a 4 star. Definitely get the sushi and the bao slider, they do vegan sushi very well, and the flavor profile was similar to real sushi and the texture was great. The bao has a super crispy filling which makes it so satisfying. The cauliflower was a let down, the pieces were soggy and needed some crunch, and the tofu and veggies tasted good but didn't feel like anything special.

Went here randomly for dinner with friends and my kids and needed to immediately review. We'd all heard it was good but MY GOD. There wasn't a subpar thing we ordered. We def ordered way too much as we wanted to try everything on the menu (yes, we'll be back as soon as our wallets allow). The bang bang broccoli, Szechuan Dan Dan noodles, truffle rice, omg the crispy rice bites Yepp, still full but hungry for it all again. If you have kids they have a great kids menu but my adventurous kiddos also devoured the chips and pepita guac as well as that bang bang broccoli. The watermelon juice came in the *perfect* child friendly cups. And the staff was so friendly and accommodating! As far as ambiance, I wouldn't go here if you're hard of hearing, but it's a lively hip place with friendly vegans and good people watching.

The food was great! I'm not vegan but I love this place. The Unagi rolls were the best, and the tuna hand roll was delicious. However, I didn't like the sauce on the 1,000 crispy rolls, and the cauliflower wings were too sweet for my taste. The service was excellent; the servers checked on us regularly to ensure everything was okay. I would definitely come back to try more vegan dishes!

This might be my new favorite place. Not only is beautiful designed for cute after work drink or an upscale date night, the food is delicious. I had the dragon roll, the peanut noodles and the bang bang broccoli. All delicious. All vegan. There was not one miss. The staff was also so sweet and accommodating. My server gave me solid options and everything he suggested was on point. I will be back!

PLANTA Queen Nomad is a vegan restaurant and we were in the mood to eat light before a late dinner. The restaurant is nice with black and white tile floors. Unlike most restaurant, the hostess counter is half way inside the restaurant, past the bar, past 5 small tables. There were about 10 additional tables deeper inside the restaurant. They prefer reservations but the hostess was able to find us a table. She helped us "book a table" and within 2 minutes, we were seated. The table was so small across the bar, so was probably intended for quick drink (as an alternative from sitting at the bar). If I would had known than I would had opted for another restaurant down the street. The restaurant is cute place, lighting was very dim (like some energy saving half-light) for atmospheric reasons which I didn't mind but can be difficult to read the menu. Two of our party were not vegan and couldn't tell that they were having plant based meat!! We also got the al pastor bowl which had a very large serving size and was very tasty! I got the spring rolls and the spicy tuna hand roll and both were good, the presentation was nice but the serving size was small for the price.
